Product Content
SEIRE WP FAST PRIMER is a low-emission, solvent-free, water-based epoxy resin primer specifically designed for ultra-fast curing flooring and waterproofing systems like SEIRE WP 500. It provides excellent adhesion to surfaces in both indoor and outdoor applications and can be applied vertically and horizontally on surfaces with up to 6% moisture content. It can be mixed with sand or sanded, and subsequent processing can occur after 3 hours (at 20°C).
After curing, SEIRE WP FAST PRIMER is resistant to water penetration, chemicals, frost, and harsh weather conditions.
Application Areas
- Suitable for indoor and outdoor applications, both horizontal and vertical.
- Primer applications on non-absorbent surfaces (ceramic, metal, etc.).
- Primer applications on absorbent surfaces (concrete, asphalt, etc.).
- Primer applications on concrete or cement-based surfaces with up to 6% moisture content.
Recommendations and Limitations
Due to its aqueous nature, the material does not heat up toward the end of its pot life. The end of pot life is indicated by an increase in viscosity.
High ambient temperatures will shorten the working time, while low temperatures will extend it.
Adequate ventilation must be provided during application and curing.
SEIRE WP FAST PRIMER can be applied to surfaces with moisture content up to 6%. For surfaces with higher moisture levels, please contact the Technical Department.
The epoxy structure of the material may yellow when exposed to UV light during application.
Once the pot life expires, the product loses its properties and should not be used.

Frequently Asked Questions About Epoxy Resin Primers
What is an epoxy resin primer?
An epoxy resin primer is a preparatory coating applied to surfaces to enhance adhesion and ensure the durability of subsequent layers. It is commonly used on concrete, metal, and other surfaces to provide a strong bonding foundation for paints and coatings.
What are the benefits of using an epoxy primer?
Using an epoxy primer offers several benefits, including improved adhesion of the topcoat, enhanced durability and resistance to chemicals and moisture, and increased lifespan of the coated surface. It also helps in sealing porous surfaces, providing a uniform base for further coatings.
How do I apply an epoxy primer?
To apply an epoxy primer, first ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from contaminants. Shake or stir the primer thoroughly, then mix any required components according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Apply the primer evenly using a roller, brush, or sprayer, and allow it to dry for the recommended time before applying the topcoat.
What surfaces can epoxy primers be used on?
Epoxy primers can be used on a variety of surfaces, including concrete, metal, wood, and masonry. They are suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications, providing a versatile solution for different types of projects.
How long does epoxy primer take to dry?
The drying time for epoxy primer varies depending on the product and environmental conditions, but it typically takes between 4 to 24 hours to dry to the touch. Full curing may take several days, during which time the primer reaches its maximum hardness and adhesion properties.
Can epoxy primers be used outdoors?
Yes, many epoxy primers are formulated for outdoor use. They provide excellent resistance to moisture, UV rays, and varying weather conditions, making them suitable for exterior surfaces such as metal fences, outdoor furniture, and building exteriors.
What is the shelf life of an epoxy primer?
The shelf life of an epoxy primer is usually around 12 to 24 months when stored properly. It should be kept in its original, unopened packaging in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
Are epoxy primers environmentally friendly?
Many modern epoxy primers are formulated to be low in volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and free from harmful solvents, making them more environmentally friendly compared to older formulations. However, it is important to check the product specifications for environmental certifications.
How should epoxy primer be stored?
Epoxy primer should be stored in its original, unopened container in a cool, dry place with temperatures between 5°C and 30°C. It should be kept away from frost, direct sunlight, and heat sources to maintain its effectiveness and extend its shelf life.
What are common uses for epoxy primers?
Common uses for epoxy primers include preparing surfaces for painting, coating floors, protecting metal surfaces from corrosion, sealing concrete, and providing a durable base for industrial coatings. They are widely used in construction, automotive, marine, and manufacturing industries.
