History of ARDEX

ARDEX Group

Founded in 1949 in the city of Witten, Germany, ARDEX is a family-owned company that has successfully completed 70 years filled with achievements.

ARDEX Türkiye

Our group, operating in Turkey since 2007, strengthened its presence in our country with the facility commissioned in Istanbul Tuzla in 2011.

1949

The Witten factory, established as NORWAG-Werke GmbH, manufactures metal processing oils, window sealants, and waxes.

1950-1959

At the beginning of the year, it was renamed ARDEX Chemie GmbH. In addition to the introduction of the first ARDUR Floor Fillers, business expansion occurred with the establishment of ARDEX NOVAL S.A. in France. The construction of the first factory building and silo was also completed.

1960-1969

This decade was filled with significant innovations, including the participation of ARDUPLAN 2026 as the world’s first wall filler putty in the program. The world’s first rapid-setting cement-based floor filler putty, ARDIT Z 8, was introduced. The tile adhesive ARDURIT X 7 G was launched and is still considered an icon of thin-bed mortar. Additionally, active expansion continued in Great Britain, Scandinavia, and Austria, alongside the introduction of the ARDUCRET B 12 Concrete Filling MASTIT product.

1970-1979

The product range expanded with ARDURAPID 77, a floor filler material ready for laying one hour after application, and ARDEX K 15, a versatile smoothing and leveling material, one of the classics of floor filling materials. The first expansion outside of Europe occurred with the establishment of ARDEX Inc. in Pittsburgh, United States.

1980-1989

Another innovation was introduced with the product named WITTENER SCHNELLZEMENT 32,5 R-SF. Research and development activities became increasingly important, leading to the opening of a new research and development center in Witten in 1982.

1990-1999

Our quality management system was certified according to DIN EN ISO standards. Investments in research and development are paying off. The first floor covering adhesives were introduced, and two more tile adhesives, ARDURIT X 5 and ARDURIT X 7 G Plus, were developed. Due to increased demand, the second factory in Witten became operational. Additionally, international expansion rapidly continued in Sweden, Poland, and Spain.

2000-2009

During this decade, the expansion of international business is the focus. The acquisition of the W.W. Henry Company, USA, and the takeover of Lugato and NORCROS with branches in Southeast Asia, China, and the Pacific region take place. Additionally, establishments in Finland, Dubai, and Korea occur. PANDOMO, the division for decorative floor coverings, is introduced. A new state-of-the-art mixing plant is also put into operation in Witten.

2010-2019

In addition to increasing growth, this year sees a focus on numerous majority acquisitions. These include: Seire in Spain, QUICSEAL in Asia, CEMIX in New Zealand, DTA in Australia, New Zealand, and the USA. The first foray into the South American market is achieved with the acquisition of Ceramfix in Brazil. In Germany, GUTJAHR Systemtechnik, WAKOL, LOBA, and KNOPP are incorporated into the ARDEX Group. New production facilities are being built in Turkey, Thailand, India, China, Australia, and Malaysia. Additionally, the ARDEXacademy West is inaugurated as a new and state-of-the-art training center in Witten. Furthermore, the construction of the new Research and Development Center is underway.

2011

Our facility, construction of which began in 2010, commenced operations in March 2011 in Istanbul Tuzla.
