Single-Component Polyurethane Primer: Fast-Drying and Moisture-Resistant

This single-component polyurethane primer is ideal for both interior and exterior floors, acting as a moisture barrier for concrete and cement screeds with up to 4% moisture content. It is ready-to-use, fast-drying within 1 hour, and suitable for a variety of surfaces including wood, chipboard, and old ceramic tiles. It contains no water or solvents and is classified as very low emission (EC1 PLUS). Available in 11 kg canisters, it offers easy application with a working time of 60 minutes and a walk-on time of 40-50 minutes.

Description

Solvent-free and very low-emission ready-to-use, 1-component reaction resin primer based on polyurethane resins. A moisture-hardening reaction produces a hard and dry film.

Use

Indoor and outdoor. Floors.

1-component, versatile reaction resin primer based on polyurethane as a primer, barrier primer and consolidator on smooth and dense substrates.

  • Barrier against excessive residual moisture in cement screeds and concrete floors up to max. 4 CM%
  • Barrier against excessive residual moisture in cement screeds with underfloor heating up to 3 CM%
  • Consolidation of worn edge areas on absorbent substrates such as calcium sulphate screeds and calcium sulphate self-levelling screeds, cement screeds and concrete floors

Primer and barrier layer against moisture penetration from above on absorbent and dense substrates such as:

  • Concrete
  • Cement, calcium sulphate, magnesia and stone wool screeds
  • Poorly sanded mastic asphalt screeds/old mastic asphalt floors
  • Old substrates with firmly adhering levelling compounds and adhesive residues
  • Old substrates with water-soluble adhesive residues such as sulphite-leached adhesives
  • Moisture-sensitive wooden substrates such as chipboard, OSB and hardboard
  • Dry screed elements such as gypsum fibre boards
  • Old SMP adhesive residues
  • Ceramic tiles and slabs/terrazzo floors.

Quick primer under parquet floors in combination with ARDEX reaction adhesives.

Considerations

ARDEX PU 30 cannot be used in the presence of penetrating or rising damp or vapour diffusion. ARDEX PU 30 is not a substitute for building waterproofing.

In cold weather, bring ARDEX PU 30 1-K-PU Primer to room temperature in heated rooms. The processing temperature must not fall below +10°C. All data is based on approx. +20°C and a relative humidity of approx. 65%. Low temperatures and/or high humidity can delay curing. Before carrying out subsequent work, the primed surface must be dry and free of adhesive.

ARDEX PU 30 should be applied in a thin layer. Avoid puddles.

Do not dilute ARDEX PU 30 with water or solvents. Do not pour leftovers back into the original container. Allow the material to cure and then dispose of it properly. After the layers have dried, direct bonding with ARDEX reaction adhesives must be carried out within 24 hours or a bonding agent must be applied with ARDEX P 4 READY multifunctional primer.

Two coats may be necessary on highly absorbent substrates.

Do not use ARDEX PU 30 on floor coverings such as PVC, CV, rubber and linoleum. Open containers must be sealed tightly and used up quickly.

In case of doubt, carry out a test application.

Packaging

Canister with 11 kg net

Shelf Life and Storage

Can be stored in dry rooms for approx. 18 months in the original sealed container. Store in a frost-free place. Store in an upright position.

Base

Polyurethane resin

Material requirement

100 – 150 g/m² (one layer as primer)

250 – 300 g/m² (two layers as moisture barrier)

Working time*

approx. 60 minutes

Walkability*

approx. 40-50 minutes

Drying time*

approx. 1 hour as a primer,

approx. 2 hours for layers that have been quartz-treate

*Values calculated under lab conditions (+20°C room temperature 65% relative humidty). Weather and environmental conditions may affect the values. Higher temperatures and low humidty decreases the time requried, whereas lower tetemperatures and high humidty increases it.
