Two-Component Elastic Waterproofing Material – ARDEX 8+9
ARDEX 8+9 is a two-component elastic waterproofing material providing impermeability under ceramic and similar coverings. It offers fast application, quick drying, and superior crack-bridging capabilities. Suitable for both interior and exterior applications.
Usage Areas
For both interior and exterior applications. Suitable for walls and floors.
Used for waterproofing under various types of ceramic and similar coverings in wet areas with floor drains such as showers, bathrooms, general shower and bathroom areas, utility rooms, public and industrial areas. Can also be used in a trowelable consistency for leveling and smoothing work.
Suitable for waterproofing in wet areas specified in Chapter 7 of the Building Waterproofing Regulation and for pools and water tanks specified in Chapter 8.
Exterior Applications:
Used on balconies and terraces (where there is no living space underneath) to waterproof and protect the underlying surface, typically applied on cement screeds and concrete surfaces before the application of ceramic or similar coverings.
Product Type
ARDEX 8+9 is composed of a solvent-free acrylate dispersion with a specific weight of approximately 1 kg/l and a cement-based powder with a dry density of 1.2 kg/l. Application involves mixing the two products.
Once dried and cured, ARDEX 8+9 is waterproof, highly elastic, and does not cause discoloration in silicone joint fillers.

Shelf Life and Storage
Can be stored for approximately 12 months in a dry and cool environment in its original unopened packaging, protected from sunlight and frost.

Material Requirement
Brushable Consistency:
- Two-coat application, approximately 0.8 mm dry layer thickness: 0.75 kg powder + 0.75 kg dispersion = approximately 1.5 kg/m² mixed fresh mortar.
Trowelable Consistency:
- Two-coat application, approximately 2 mm dry layer thickness: 1.6 kg powder + 1.2 kg dispersion = approximately 2.8 kg/m² mixed fresh mortar.
Working/Pot Life*
Approximately 45 minutes
Walkable Time*
Each coat dries within approximately 2.5 hours. Total drying time for two coats is 5 hours.
*These values are approximate and calculated under laboratory conditions at +20°C and 65% relative humidity. Environmental and air conditions can alter these values. Higher temperatures and lower humidity shorten these times, while lower temperatures and higher humidity extend them.
